Association Events 2018

2-5 May (TBC)600 Sqn visit to Dutch Cemeteries coincides with the Dutch Liberation Day. Association members are welcome to attend but must make own travel arrangements. Please inform the Chairman – Shobha and 600 Sqn Adjutant – Vicky if you plan to attend.

Association members are invited to attend a 40s theme night at 600 Squadron RAF Northolt HA4 6NG (nearest underground - Ruislip Gardens or South Ruislip on Central Line then a short walk).
If you wish to attend this event please inform Peter Harris - the events co-ord as we will need to arrange for security passes and for escorts to meet you at the Main Guardroom.

The Annual Service of Homage will be held at St Bartholomew the Great. This is a very important event commemorating the biggest loss for the Squadron during WWII and therefore members’ attendance would be greatly appreciated. A service will be held in the Lady Chapel at 1045 hours, followed by Matins at 1100 - 1215. Please arrive 1000 - 1030, there is a coffee shop where we will meet. Association Standard on Parade.

The Federation of Old Comrades Association Parade (FLOCAS). The parade will commence at 1030hrs at Lothbury. 601 Sqn Lead / 600 Sqn attend. Dedicated this year to the Centenary of the formation of the RAF. Lunch is served afterwards at the Headquarters of the HAC. The cost is approx. up to £20 but this will be confirmed nearer the date. 6-9 JulyA RAF 100 Centenary static Aircraft display will be located at Horse Guards Parade Square for viewing by the public.
TUES
10th July
The RAF 100 Centenary Parade will take place at Buckingham Palace. Approx. 1500 personnel will be on parade consisting of RAF regulars and reserves of which 150 RAuxAF will be involved in various ceremonial activities. A flypast is arranged to coincide with the parade.
THURS
16th August
An informal ceremony to mark the B of B occasion each year is planned at the National Memorial Alrewas (NMA). Croxall Road, Alrewas, Burton-on-Trent DE13 7AR. Personnel will meet in the café by 1030, then move down to the Memorial for our commemoration, hold a service, dedicate new Stones, lay wreaths and then go back to the café for some refreshments and lunch. Dress for all those serving - No 1 with medals, civilian dress as appropriate to the occasion. Guests, veterans and Associations are most welcome on the understanding that no official hospitality will be provided this year, attendees are to be self-funded.
DATE TBCA Memorial stone ceremony to remember Sgt Jacqui Tennant will be conducted at the National Memorial Alrewas (NMA) – Association members are invited to attend.

Battle of Britain Service at Westminster Abbey. Full details of the service will be promulgated closer to the event but the event is announced in the Daily Telegraph during the first week in June. A limited number of Tickets are available for veterans. Applications to be made in writing provide names, addresses, telephone number/email contact details, place and date of birth, Passport or Driving Licence number of individuals wishing to attend. 600 Squadron’s Annual All Ranks ‘Butchers’ Dinner. Association members are welcome to attend. Additional details of this event, the costs (e.g. 2017 dinner cost £72.00), location and timings to be issued at a later date.

Mill Hill Service of Remembrance takes place at Mill Hill Cemetery, Mile Spit Lane, Mill Hill and will be attended by our friends from the Netherlands along with the Military attaché from the Dutch Embassy in London. The Service commences at 1500 followed by wreath laying. Mulled wine, refreshments and mince pies will be provided for those who wish to stay and chat with the Veterans, friends and family. The Lord Mayors Parade takes place in the City and 600 Sqn will march in the parade. The Association Standard and 600 Sqn (Collett) Standard will be on parade.

Arrive by 11.00am
Remembrance Sunday Service at St Paul’s Cathedral. The service starts at 1030 hours, followed by wreath laying and a parade at the Royal Exchange, then lunch at the Mansion House. This is a ticketed event for members who are expected to participate in the march to the Royal Exchange and onto Mansion House.
Association Standard on parade and 2 Association members are required to escort the standard.
